In the event of an ischemic stroke, every second counts. This project focuses on improving care and recovery in patients suffering from an ischemic stroke through innovative technology and more efficient decision-making in the ambulance. The majority of patients recover from this quickly, often within a month. But in 6 to 8 percent of patients, the symptoms can persist and a disrupted sense of smell may arise.

Marlies Schijven has been appointed as board member of ZonMw with effect from 1 April 2022. She has been appointed for a period of three years by the Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport (Ernst Kuipers) and by Marcel Levi on behalf of the Executive Board of the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
