Until further notice, ZonMw had decided that the use of generative AI models in the assessment process by employees, referees, committee members and other assessor is not permitted. A confidentiality obligation applies to the assessment of applications, and this could be compromised. The Dutch Research Council (NWO) and ZonMw (the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research) are both signatories to the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information published April 16. This new initiative aims to promote the openness of research information and specifically, the openness of bibliographic metadata. Knowledge institutions and research councils in the Netherlands are taking a new step in the Recognition & Rewards programme with the publication of a roadmap including concrete plans for the years ahead. Amongst the plans are a series of new career and development paths for scientists.
