From today onwards, research institutions together with (public) institutions and businesses or local governments can jointly submit funding proposals to quickly tackle a practical problem related to the coronavirus crisis and the measures taken against that. Given the need to act urgently, the deadline for submitting proposals for this call is 25 May 2020, at 12.00 hours CEST. -

More research is needed into the health risks of microplastics, argue Dutch toxicologists in the renowned scientific journal Science. It is still far from clear whether these new environmental contaminants form a serious risk for human health, and so it is important to determine that quickly. -

Researchers from the Science (ENW), Applied and Engineering Sciences (AES) and Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) domains, as well as Health, Research and Development (ZonMw) will receive Vidi grants of up to 800,000 euro. This will enable the laureates to develop an innovative line of research over the next five years and further expand their own research group. -
AfbeeldingIn 2018, 68% of the publications resulting from NWO funding were Open access. The percentage for ZonMw was 60%. These are the findings of an analysis published today by the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS). NWO and ZonMw are aiming for 100% Open access. Achieving this target will require an extra effort and further steps.
