Applying the gambling harms framework to the Netherlands: Developing multiple indicators to support assessment of gambling harms
Better monitoring of gambling-related harm helps reduce this harm by identifying points for prevention and treatment.
Objective
This project aims to improve the measurement of indicators for gambling-related harm in the Netherlands.
Approach
Work Package 1: Development of a Dutch-language conceptual framework on gambling-related harm for use in research, policy, and prevention contexts.
Work Package 2: Development, pilot testing, and dissemination of a standardized Dutch set of questions to assess gambling-related harm, thus improving measurability.
Work Package 3: Identification of harm indicators in existing Dutch monitoring methods, objective data sources with continuous measurements, and exploration of potential improvements in monitoring.
Expected Results
The results and products from this project will be disseminated to all relevant stakeholders, namely those involved in monitoring, research, addiction prevention/care, and policy. The goal is to complement and continuously improve the Dutch monitoring system.
