Developing and testing the effectiveness of Moti-4 for gambling problems in youth
Now that online gambling is legalized in the Netherlands, young people are exposed to a lot of gambling advertisements. This may lead to an increasing number of young people developing gambling problems. Moti-4 is a program that has previously been successful in reducing other addictions, such as cannabis use and gaming.
Objective
The project aims to adapt Moti-4 for adolescents and young adults with early-stage gambling problems.
Approach
The effectiveness in reducing gambling problems will be tested through a randomized controlled trial (RCT), and the usability and acceptability of Moti-4 will be examined in a process evaluation.
Expected Results
An adapted version of Moti-4 for gambling problems and its nationwide implementation in the Netherlands if the program proves to be effective.
