Development of a clinical guideline on osteoporosis and fall prevention
The guideline Osteoporosis and Fall Prevention focuses on physiotherapy and exercise therapy, with the fall prevention module also describing care by occupational therapists and dietitians. This is important because exercise helps keeping the body strong and reduces the risk of falling and fractures. However, sufficient exercise without guidance is not possible for everyone.
Aim
Developing this guideline with a guideline panel consisting of various healthcare professionals and patients. An important aspect of the project concerns guideline implementation and the alignment with national initiatives regarding fall prevention. By collaboration with patients and other healthcare professionals, we are working together to reduce the number of fractures due to osteoporosis.
Approach
The main issues encountered in practice are being collected. Practical recommendations are being formulated based on scientific research and other considerations, with other guidelines taking into account.
