Nursing Virtual Care from a Virtual Care Center (V-ZERO)

Healthcare faces significant challenges: increasing number of patients and nursing shortages. To address these issues, virtual care is increasingly being used, where patients' health is monitored via apps, sensors, and video calls. At Isala and Rijnstate hospitals, this is implemented through the Virtual Care Center (VCC).

Aim

This project investigates how this new form of care can be optimally organized. They examine how virtual care and the VCC operate, how they change the work of nurses, and what is needed in the future to perform the profession effectively.

Approach

They measure satisfaction with virtual care among nurses and patients, how the quality and accessibility of care remains high, and financial impact. The insights can assist other hospitals and sectors to implement or improve virtual care, ensuring that healthcare remains sustainable, patient-centered, and affordable.
