Tailored Implementation Strategies to prevent spread of antimicrobial resistance by Physicians
In hospitals, resistant bacteria can spread from patient to patient, for example via hands of healthcare workers. To prevent this and hospital-acquired infections, infection prevention measures, such as hand hygiene, must be carefully applied. However, compliance is not optimal, especially by physicians.
Method
This project will investigate how physicians can be supported to implement these measures. This is important because it reduces the risk of difficult to treat infections in patients. Physicians' behaviour depends, among other things, on local norms, values and possibilities.
Researchers will use insights from implementation sciences to create an implementation tool. This tool helps to choose tailored implementation strategies that match what physicians need to implement infection prevention measures better. They will test the usability of this tool and strategies in various hospitals. This also helps them learn more about barriers to implementing infection prevention and the process of developing and adapting strategies to local conditions.
Aim
This project aims to improve compliance with infection prevention measures by physicians in hospitals.
