VOICE+ project: innovative speech recognition technology for documentation in the nursing process

Nursing documentation is essential for quality and safety of care. Speech recognition technology is a good example of a technological innovation that improves quality of nursing documentation. This innovation involves patients and their relatives directly in the documentation process.

Applying speech recognition technology

So far, in home care this technology is limited applied. Broader implementation, e.g. in the assessments, will further improve the quality of documentation, reduce documentation time for nursing staff, and promote shared decision-making, ultimately leading to appropriate nursing care.

Aim

In this project, researchers collaborate closely with nursing staff, patients, educators, and IT developers. They aim to map out the capabilities of speech recognition technology and implement the technology in the entire nursing process. Additionally, they develop practical tools to encourage the adoption of this innovation within other home care organizations and in nursing homes.
