Epilepsy is a disorder in which a temporary disturbance occurs in the electrical transmission of signals in the brain. This often causes epileptic attacks of various kinds. Epilepsy has a number of different causes. ZonMw is funding research into pharmaceutical and other treatments of epilepsy, but also into living with epilepsy (or with someone who suffers from it). -
The European Partnership for Personalised Medicine (EP PerMed), supported by the European Union under Horizon Europe, launches its first joint transnational call (JTC2024) for proposals on “Identification or Validation of Targets for Personalised Medicine Approaches (PMTargets)”. In total, 38 funding organisations participate in this call with an available budget of over € 45.000.000.

Researchers from participating institutions will be able to publish the results of NWO and ZonMw funded projects in seven journals from the publisher PLOS without incurring any costs for the next two years. To facilitate this, NWO and ZonMw are allocating funds, which they will pay directly to the consortium that negotiated the agreement with PLOS. -

On behalf of the Netherlands, we are part of the international partnership Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR), currently a collaboration between 28 member countries. Researchers from Science (ENW), Applied and Engineering Sciences (AES) and Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) domains and Health, Research and Development (ZonMw) receive Vidi grants of in total 86,7 million euros. This enables the laureates to develop an innovative line of research over the next 5 years and further expand their research group. -
