On Wednesday, 22 June 2022, ZonMw organised a meeting about making data FAIR in the projects about antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and infectious disease control (IDC). These themes are closely related, and new funding rounds will soon open for both. The aim of this meeting was to inform project leaders, researchers and data stewards and to hear about their experiences with making their data… -

On behalf of the Netherlands, we are part of the international partnership Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR), currently a collaboration between 28 member countries. Many projects funded under the framework of the JPIAMR already resulted in outstanding publications that range over One Health areas (Human, Animal, Environment). Here we highlight three projects. - Inappropriate use of antimicrobials can lead to antimicrobial resistance. Read how this project contributes to effective antimicrobial stewardship.
- Researchers will determine the effectiveness of antibiotic stewardship programs in the intensive care unit and formulate recommendations for implementation.

On 19 November, during World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, ZonMw awarded a Parel (Award) to Dr. Henk Schallig, parasitologist at Amsterdam UMC. He received the award for the RAPDIF study, which developed better tools and knowledge for tackling fever and malaria in Africa. - Infections caused by bacteria resistant to most antibiotics (so-called multidrug resistant bacteria) remain a global problem. The lack of new antibiotics is a major social problem and threat to human and animal health.AimIn this antimicrobial discovery project, researchers focused on developing novel antibiotics for the highly virulent and antibiotic-resistant human pathogens (called the ESKAPE…
